Something Different, 79: Too well.

I awoke to the ringing sound of my phone. It was a call. I groaned and took it and pressed answer.

“H-hello?” I asked, still sleepy. I didn’t even know who would call me early in the morning.

“Ivy!” A shout from the phone woke me up a little bit as I sat up straight. But my eyes were still half closed.

“What?!” I shrieked.

“Wake up, woman!” The girl shouted.

“Nat?” I asked, yawning.

“Yes it’s me, Ivy Egan. Who d’you think it is? Your fairy godmother?” Nat asked sarcastically.

“I wouldn’t mind if I’m getting one.” I laughed sleepily.

“Ivy! Up and addam!” Nat told me as if I was a five year old girl on her first day of school.

“Nat!” I said, “Why are you telling me to wake up early in the morning at—” I looked at my alarm clock and it read 6.30am. “6.30am?” I finally said.

“Ivy!” She shouted again, “We have to be at the town’s park by 7.30am!”

I gasped and quickly jumped off my bed, fully awake, “Oh crap!”

“That’s right, honey.” Nat said, “Now, hurry up! We were suppose to go to the park with Eric and the others by 7.00am, remember?”

“Oh shit.” I swore, “I gotta go and shower!”

“You go ahead and shower, I’ll call you when we’re on our way to your place.”

“Please and thank you!” I said and hung up.

It took me exactly fifteen minutes to finish my shower. It was already 6.45am when I arrived downstairs. Mom and dad were already up early, as always. No doubt Morgan was up early at this time of the morning.

“Good morning.” I greeted mom and dad as I gave both of them a peck on the cheeks.

“Good morning, dear.” Mom greeted back as she placed a plate of toast on the table.

“‘Morning, Ivy.” Dad nodded and sipped his coffee.

“I’m gonna go to the park today with Nat, Dash and the others by 7am.” I told them as I took a bite of a strawberry jam toast.

“Oh yes, the trees replanting thing, right?” Mom asked.

I nodded, my mouth full.

Both mom and dad smiled, “Okay.”

Suddenly, my iPhone rang. I took it out from the jeans of my pocket. Nat’s picture appeared on the screen. Time to go now. I thought as I quickly put a mouthful of toast into my mouth.

“God-da-guh.” I said as I picked up my sling bag underneath the wooden table.

“Okay.” Mom laughed.

“Have fun, Kicker.” Dad said.

“I will, thanks!” I shouted as I went out the door.

Outside, parked as I could tell, Dash’s limo. I quickly ran, covering my mouth since I was still chewing my toast.

The door suddenly opened and I entered. By fate, I sat next to Dash and in front of me was Nat.

“‘Morning, baby girl.” Dash said as I slammed the door closed.

I tried to smile but covered my mouth, “Moorningh.”

“What are you doing?” Nat asked, one of her eyebrow up.

Finally, I swallowed my toast. “I was eating toast.”

“That figures.” Eric said, eating a Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie.

I crossed my arms and said, “Not sharing, Owans?”

Eric shook his head, “Mine.”

I cluck my tongue out, “Greedy.”

Nat laughed, but then suddenly she took Eric’s chocolate chip cookie bag and took a cookie out and put it in to her mouth.

“Hey!” I said, “Howcome she gets to eat it?”

Eric smiled. Instead Nat said, “Because he loves me.”

“You know me too well.” Eric laughed.

I looked at Nat, dead  in the eye and gave her a Hmmm? look.

Nat just blushed and smiled.
