Something Different, 89: See you on the flip side.

Fifteen minutes already passed since we left my house this morning as we were already on our way to Old Lake.

I looked out Nat’s limo’s window as lots of orange, red, yellow and pale looking leaves of the trees, were lined up in a line as we passed by them. The sun was still rising up in blue the sky.

“Where the hell is Jesse?” London suddenly complained as she took out her Sidekick and flipped it open with a Click! sound.

Nat shrugged, “With Eva?”

“Duh.” Penelope said, “Where else?”

Silence.

“Thought so.” Penelope said sounding proud.

Suddenly, Nat’s SE Xperia sang itself alive. Nat reached for her Guess sling bag in search for her phone. Once she got it out from her bag, she flipped it open and switched it on to loud speaker and finally said, “Hello?”

“Yo, Nat, my woman!” A very familiar, but annoying male voice said.

I looked up at Nat and saw her blush but rolled her eyes, “What, Eric?”

“Okay so here’s the thing,” Eric said, “I’m with Dash and Paul now, and we just talked to Jesse—”

“JESSE?” London suddenly screamed.

Nat dropped her phone on the floor of the limo as the three of us said, “Ow!” at the same time.

“London!” Penelope scolded.

“I think my ear drums are either going to come out now, or burst inside my ears.” I complained.

“O…uch, London.” Nat said, rolling her eyes as she picked her phone up. “Eric?”

“Sorreeeeee.” London apologized.

“I thought I just heard a seal roaring before it died.” Eric said.

The three of us bursted laughing, “Nice one, Rick!” I said.

“Not. Funny.” London said, crossing her arms.

“Laugh out loud.” Penelope clucked her tongue out.

“Nice.” Nat said, “Okay you were saying?”

“Okay, so, Jesse…” Eric paused, as if waiting for someone to shout again.

We all looked at London, who was still crossing her arms and pouting.

“The seal is fully dead,” Nat joked. “You were saying?”

“Oh, okay. Thank god.” Eric played along, “Just kidding, Londs, no hard feelings.”

“Gee.” London said, “Thanks a lot.”

“No problem.” Eric said immediately, “Okay so, we talked to Jesse, and he’s with Eva now. They’re both with Eva’s parents. And good news, Eva still hasn’t got a clue, that today’s her birthday.”

“Wow.” London said.

“Wow.” I repeated what she said.

“That girl.” Penelope tisk-ed, “So clueless.”

“As usual.” Nat said, “So, where are you guys now?”

“On our way to Old Lake. We just passed by Oakstreet.”

“What about you guys?” I heard, Dash, said in the background. My stomach made a backflip.

“Us, too.” Penelope answered.

“When’s Eva and Jesse coming?” I asked.

“Soon. Jesse’s gonna text either of us when he’s coming.” Paul said in the background.

“Which,” Dash spoke, “I doubt it won’t be London.”

The three of us looked at London, as she blushed. “What?” She croaked.

“Nothing.” All of us replied.

“Okay, we’ll see you then.” Nat said.

“See ya!” Eric said before he hung up.

“Where’s the cake and the food?” I asked everyone as Nat put her SE Xperia in her bag.

“All taken care of.” Penelope said.

“Relax.” Nat told me, “What Penelope said.”

“You think Eva’s gonna flip?” London asked.

“Oh, I know she will.” Penelope winked.

“Looks like we’ll be seeing her on the flipside.” Nat joked.
