Stuck on You, 6: Crashin’.

Jenny Shay.

“Ow!” I shrieked as I landed on my bum on to the floor.

“Oh, shit!” I heard someone say, “Sorry!”

I rubbed by butt and looked up to face the amazing Thomas James.

I felt my cheeks burn and tried to get up. “Here let me help you.” He offered his hand and I took it. I stood up and faced down to look at my feet. I was awestruck. “I—” I stuttered. “Um. It’s thanks.”

I heard him laugh and boy, was it a cute one. “It’s thanks?”

I finally got the guts to face his green eyes and an adorable smile on his face. Thomas James had dirty blond hair and the fact that he had broad shoulders and that he’s… sorta taller than me, I had to look up to look at his face.

“Um… yeah. Sorry about that, I wanted to say ‘It’s okay’ and ‘thanks’ but I always end up saying both the words I want to that’s in my head.” I paused and bit my lip. “Sorry, I talk a lot.”

He giggled and said, “I can see that.”

I just gave him a smile.

“Well, sorry again.” He said, “I guess, I’ll see you around?”

I felt my cheeks getting warmer, “Sure.”

He walked away and waved me goodbye. I didn’t even notice that I was grinning so wide till I entered my class.

“Hey, girl!” I heard a voice say.

I looked up and smiled towards my best friend. “Hey, Lexie.”

She pulled out a chair next to me and looked at the book that was in my hands. “Wuthering Heights again, Jen?” she gave me a quizzical look.

I laughed and nodded. “Yes, Lexa.”

“How can you stand reading that book over and over again?” she asked, “I think it’s the millionth time I’ve seen you reading it since you first got it!”

I closed the book and put it in my bag and said, “Don’t be ridiculous, Lexie. You’re just exaggerating.”

“Well, one thing’s for sure, I can’t count how many times you buried your face in that book.” Lexa said with her Okie twang accent as she popped the gum she’s been chewing since she gotten into class.

I rolled my eyes at her.

Just then, Mrs. Ryan came into class. Behind her, walked in a guy. New, I’m guessing, since I’ve never seen him anywhere before.

When he walked into the room I looked around and saw the girls staring dreamily to him, some of them having their mouths half way open. I raised an eyebrow up and turned to face Lexa, “What is—” then I closed my mouth shut. Lexa, was, unsurprisingly, staring at the guy.

He’s okay looking, I guess. He’s not that tall, average. He had well built arms, sandy brown hair, warm brown eyes. He looked at me in the eyes and revealed a cocky smile.

“Class,” our math teacher began talking. “This is Andrew Jackson. He’s from London, he’s new and he’ll be your new classmate starting today.” All he did was wave and gave everyone a smile. I swear I heard a few sighs.

“Take a seat, Andrew.” Mrs. Ryan told him.

“Thanks.”

“Now, class, open your textbooks to page 300.”

“Omigod!” Alexa gasped, “Thomas James talked to you?!”

“SHHHHHH!” I put my index finger on her mouth to shut her up, even though it wasn’t really necessary since we were in the cafeteria and the place was noisy.

I pulled my finger away and Lexa smiled, “I’m sorry but— omigod! THE Thomas James?! As in like, the hottest and most amazing and most talented guy in the school?!”

I laughed, “Yeah.”

“Omigod, tell me what happened again!” she shrieked.

I rolled my eyes and told Lexa what happened earlier, for the second time.

“He’s one heck of a rider!” she said in her Okie accent.

I laughed. “Hey, I’m gonna grab some pudding. You wanna come?”

Lexa stuffed herself with a huge sugary bagel. “Nawh. I’m ffffffine. You gohh ahead.”

I chuckled and got up. As I walked, my mind suddenly flashed back to Thomas. His smile, his eyes. I couldn’t help but look for him around in the cafeteria. Thomas filled my head then something snapped me back to reality. Well, splash, would be the correct term.

I was so caught up with searching and thinking about Thomas, I didn’t even notice that I crashed into the new guy in my math class.

I ended up with my butt on the floor, and having my uniform all wet.

“Watch where you’re goin’, mate!” I heard someone say.

I looked up to see my new classmate standing up and a furious was written all over his handsome face.

“Sorry, I—”

“Save it.” He snapped, “You owe me my chicken pie and my bottle of water.”

“Alright, alright.” I said. “Fine.” Thinking that he would at least hand me a hand and help me up, I heard him scoff.

“Save it. I want my chicken pie the next time I see you. Don’t think I’d forget you.” He said then studied my face as I stood up. “You’re in my math class.” it wasn’t a question.

“Umm, I don’t think so. I haven’t seen you in my math class, sorry.” I said in a sarcastic tone.

“Yeah, right. What was your name again? Jenna?”

“Jennifer.” I told him.

“I see.” his British accent was recognizable, “Whatever. I—” before he could finish what he wanted to say, Jessica Peters and Tina Grey came up and interrupted us.

I saw Jessica roll her eyes and scoffed, “A shower in your uniform, Jennifer? How nice.”

Tina backed her best friend up by laughing.

I rolled my eyes but kept quiet.

Jessica and Tina looked at me then turned around to face Andrew as if I wasn’t there anymore. “Hey, Andrew, right?” She gave him an angelic smile.

“Uh. Yeah, and you are?” He asked.

“Jessica. You can call me Jess, this is Tina. You’re new aren’t you? Come on and sit with us.” She pulled his arm and tugged him along with her.

I opened my mouth, shocked. On the first day of school, my classmate who is new actually got invited to sit with Jessica, Tina and the rest of the cheer leading squad jocks at the popular table. Unbelievable. I sighed in frustration then headed back to my table.

“Ugh.” I groaned.

Lexa looked up from her iPhone and asked, “What’s up?” Then she looked at my uniform and gave me a quizzical look, “Girl, did you decide to splash yourself with a bottle of water or somethin’?”

“No.” I told her. “That Andrew guy.” I looked from Lexa to the table where Andrew was sitting at and it seemed like he was comfortable with Jessica and the rest of her friends.

“He spilled water at you?” She asked without taking her eyes off of him.

“Nah.” I said in a sarcastic tone, “He came in and crashin’ in on me.” I sighed burying my face in my arms on top of the table feeling miserable. This day couldn’t get any worse.
