Stuck on You, 7: Impressed.

Andrew Jackson.

The school was okay. A lot different than my former school, Padington Academy. And apparently the principal of the school, Mr. Hudson, is best friends with dad. No wonder I got into the school so easily. Small world.

So! First day of school went fine I guess.

I mean, my classes were okay. The people there are nice, too. Everything went well. I decided to go for the football tryouts. That was a piece of cake as well, all I had to do was tell the coach Mr. Hudson insisted that I try out, since I was the captain and star player of my former football team. Well, soccer, really. That’s what the Americans call it. Soccer. Weird.

I’ll be trying out this Friday at the football, I mean, soccer field behind the school’s gym. From standing at the front of the school, I thought it only consisted of 3 buildings… I was wrong. The gym was huge.

Apart from that, Thanks to that Jennifer girl, I lost my chicken pie. Woman didn’t even see where she was going at just crashed into me and fell on her bum in the cafeteria earlier.

I remember what I said to her earlier. ”You owe me my chicken pie.”

She looked up to me with her blue eyes and said, “Alright. Fine.”

The look on her face was somewhat amusing and adorable at the same time, though.

Then, thanks to her, I got invited to sit with people at the “popular” table. That’s what my chemistry seat mate, John, and a few people he knows call it.

From what I’ve heard, Jessica (the girl who invited me to sit with her at the table) is the most popular, rich and hottest girl in school. Not to mention that she’s head cheer leader of the Eagles’ cheer leading squad. She’s okay I guess. She has long blond hair, blue eyes and a little shorter than I am.

Anyway, enough about school. I may have said it was alright, but I’m exhausted. I really need a hot cup of caramel mochiatto from Starbucks.

“Marco, to the nearest Starbucks, please.” I told my driver as we left the school parking lot on the way to Starbucks.

“Thank you, come again soon.” A male cashier said as I grabbed my coffee from his hands.

“Cheers.” I said before turning away and headed my way towards the exit.

Before I took another step forward, my eyes fell on to a girl whose face was buried behind a book. I couldn’t help but wanting to know what book she was reading. So I took another step forward.

“Wuthering Heights.” I read from a far. Impressive. I’ve read the book. It’s pretty good actually. My mates back home thought it was just some old and crappy book written by a sad old woman. Well, for me it wasn’t.

The girl put her book down onto the table and took a sip from her Starbucks drink. I squinted my eyes to get a better view. The girl had brown hair, tied neatly into a pony tail, she had a small but adorable serious face. Then I realized who it was.

The girl who crashed into me in the cafeteria this morning. “Jennifer.” I said.

Jennifer looked up as if she heard me say her name, her blue eyes met mines.

Great. Now what?

***

Jenny Shay.

I raised an eyebrow up and closed my book. I stood up from my chair and walked towards my new math classmate.

I stood in front of him and crossed my arms. “You stalkin’ me or something?”

He pulled back his head and laughed. “Me? Stalking you? I’ve better things to do, girl.”

“I have a name.” I snapped. “Unless you’re too old to remember it.”

“Watch it.” He said, “I’m only 16. It’s not ‘old’.” He implied air quotes on the word old. “And I do remember your name.”

“Really?” I asked sarcastically.

“Yeah. Jennifer.”

I nodded. “Uhuh. And you were staring at me… why?”

He shrugged, the corner of his lips turned into a cocky smile. Whoah. “You were reading Wuthering Heights.” He changed the subject.

“Yeah.” I said, “Why?”

“Good book.” He changed the subject again.

“You read it?” I asked, shocked.

“Yeah.” He replied me as he took a sip from his coffee. “Read it twice, actually. I had to read it for my English class last year when I was in London.”

“I see.” I smiled at him, amused.

“What?”

“Didn’t know a guy like you would like to read a book by Emily Bronte.”

“It’s a good book.” He admitted. “I read her sister’s book, too. Jane Eyre. I hated that one, though. Except the ending.”

“You read Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre?” I asked, surprised. “I hated reading that. In fact, I loathed it.”

“The feeling’s mutual.” Andrew smiled.

I gave him a small smile and nodded.

We were silent for a while until he said, “You owe me my chicken pie.”

I looked up at him and pouted, “Maybe next time, punk.” I turned around from facing him and headed back to the table where I sat earlier.

“Fine. Next time.” I heard him say. I turned around and he was gone.

I sat down and picked up my book. “What a freak.” I chuckled as I continued reading my book but ended thinking of the conversation I had with Andrew not so long ago.

He has a cute cocky smile… I thought.

Realizing what I was thinking I shook my head and felt disgusted. Shoving the thought of Andrew and everything else, I continued reading till I lost track of time.
