Stuck on You, 12: Lucky.

Jenny Shay.

“I’m kinda getting used to this tutoring thing.” I told Andrew after we were done with the class that afternoon.

“Yup.” Andrew gave me a smile while he put his jacket on. “You going home after this or…?”

I shrugged. “I think I might go to Starbucks.”

“Starbucks?” He asked, his British accent thick, “But it’s gonna be dark soon. Won’t your dad be worried?”

I gave him another helpless shrug. “My dad won’t be home this early. He’s usually at work.”

“Doesn’t he ever come home early?” He came closer to me, his warm brown eyes boring into mines.

I felt my heart beat fast.

“Err…” I hesitated. “No.” I finally answered him.

“Oh.” He said and he didn’t say anything, and I was grateful of that. I don’t wanna talk about it, anyway.

I was arranging the chairs, while Andrew stood beside the teacher’s desk, arms crossed against his chest. There was a moment of silence.

“What will you be doing at Starbucks?” Andrew asked, finally breaking the silence.

I turned up to look at him and there was a small smile plastered on his face, “Dunno. Eat, read.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Why?”

He paused before he spoke, “Shall I accompany you?”

“What?” I giggled. Holy fuck, did I just giggle?

Andrew returned a grin, lighting up his face and making his brown eyes look warmer. “I want to accompany you to Starbucks.”

“Really?” I smiled, “There’ll be nothing to do. You’ll get bored.”

“I’ll take my chances.” He rolled his eyes and smiled. “And we’ll be using my car, by the way.”

“I never agreed you to coming, Jackson.” I teased.

He shrugged and gave me his cocky smile. “Fine then. Your loss. It’s kind of a once in a life time opportunity.”

“Right.” I said, once I finished arranging the chairs. “You know, I could use a little help.”

“It seems like you’re done.” Andrew pointed out.

“Thanks for stating the obvious, Mr. Obvious.” I told him as I grabbed my cardigan and scarf.

“I sense sarcasm.”

I gave him an annoyed smile, “Wow! Gee. You’re good.”

“Ha ha.” Andrew said.

Once I finished putting my cardigan and scarf on I said, “Alright. Let’s go.”

Andrew’s eyes widen, “Where are we going?”

I hit him on the arm, “Starbucks, you doof.”

“I thought you didn’t agree on me accompanying you.” He pointed out.

“Oh? Fine. Be that way.” I said and turned around, wanting to get out of the classroom.

But before doing so, Andrew grabbed my wrist and bursted into laughter, “Boy, you’re so serious. I was only joking.”

He didn’t let go of my hand and neither did I. But then after a few seconds, I awkwardly let go of his grip and gave him and awkward smile. “Alright. Hurry up, I’m starved.”

This is your ride?” I asked, awestruck.

We were standing beside Andrew’s car— oh hold on, let me correct that, limo actually. A huge, long limo.

I turned to face him, my mouth still hanging open. “This is your ride?” I repeated.

He smiled his cocky smile. Okay, I don’t know why but if he does that all the time, I will melt.

Oh, I never said that.

“Well, yeah. Why? Got a problem with it?”

“But—but, this is huge!” I spread my arms out towards the limo. “You’re rich!”

“Well, I don’t know about that.” Andrew gave me a smile.

“Oh come on.” I crossed my arms, “You don’t really see this around here except if you’re famous or rich.”

“Well, I’m not famous or whatever. But I can tell you that mum and dad can afford getting that.”

I turned around and faced the limo in silence, then turned back to look at Andrew giggling.

“What’s so funny?” I demanded.

“Nothing.” He grinned, “Come on, let’s eat.”

“I’ve never been in a limo before.” I told him when he opened the door for me.

“Well, today must be your lucky day.” He said, “And I’m honoured for being the first ever man to get you on your first ride in a limo.”

“You’re not a man.” I teased.

“Oh shut up.” He said as he closed the door, “Marco, Starbucks, please.”

The driver nodded as he started the engine. A few minutes later, we were moving. I looked out the window and saw buildings, shops, trees, people flashing by me in a fast motion.

“Thanks.” I told Andrew. I didn’t even know why that came out.

Andrew smiled and said, “No problem. It was my pleasure.”

I gave him a thankful smile and said, “Boy, I’m really hungry.”

“We’ll be there soon.”

I nodded in reply and looked out the window again and waited till we arrived at Starbucks.
